We are proud to offer services 6 days a week in our conveniently located office in the Granville Skytrain Station (right across from the Tim Hortons). Digital X-Rays

Digital X-Rays deliver detailed digital diagnostic images so that we can show you what we see, and explain your condition and treatment options chair-side with clear images on-screen.

Laser Diagnostics

The DIAGNOdent diagnostic system is a pen-sized laser device that facilitates detection of the initial pit lesions that eventually become cavities. Correcting dental cavities at the early pitting stage requires less intervention and thus maximizes structural integrity when we treat the cavities.

Invisalign®

Invisalign® helps to correct orthodontic issues for many patients, helping them to straighten their smiles.

Our dentists use computerized technology to custom design and fabricate a series of low-profile, removable, clear plastic aligner trays that fit over your teeth like ultralight mouth guards.

Each tray is worn for a 2 week period, and through time the series of trays is designed to progressively move your teeth into their ideal position. Invisalign® is an option that may help to overcome issues such as gaps in teeth, overbite or underbite, or crowding.

Soft Tissue Laser

Our Dental Laser is a sophisticated, precise and minimally invasive technology for modification and aesthetic sculpting of gum tissue around your teeth. Laser treatment is efficient and effective, and patients typically experience less post-operative discomfort and more rapid healing than with conventional treatment methods. Sample applications of our laser include:

  • Treatment of Inflammation & Abscesses
  • Sterilization of Tissue Pockets
  • Preparations for Dental Implants
  • Reduction of Cold Sores

VELscope Oral Cancer Screening

Oral Cancer can be a potentially deadly type of cancer but if detected early, the survival rate for patients with oral cancer is 83%. Late detection of oral cancer, however, gives patients only a 32% chance of survival.

What is the VELscope System?

The VELscope is a safe oral cancer screening device that helps dentists identify abnormal oral tissue and diseases that may indicate oral cancer or pre-cancerous lesions. Using fluorescence visualization technology, the scan can be performed in your dentist’s office.

How Long Does an Exam Last?

A VELscope exam will typically take no more than 5 minutes and has no side effects. In this short time, your oral health care professional can investigate any abnormal oral tissue and help prevent not just oral cancer but fungal infections and bacterial growth.

Meet Dr. Ken Phillips

Dr. Ken Phillips is a general dentist at RCDG. Originally from Montreal, he graduated from Dalhousie Dental School in 1987, eventually moving west. He founded the Royal Centre practice in 1990. Now, when he’s not cycling the highways and byways of the province, or studying the latest developments in dentistry, he can be found here in downtown Vancouver working Monday-Thursday with his long time staff.

Dr. Phillips has taken a particular interest in aesthetic and laser dentistry over the years, taking advanced training courses in a variety of areas. He has been mentored by oral surgeon Dr. Ken Blankstein, and now performs most of his own surgical extractions.
