Fixed Tooth Replacement – How Dental Bridges Restore Your Smile’s Function

Are you missing a tooth and want to love your smile again? A dental bridge might be the answer!

Replace missing teeth using dental bridges Vancouver BC from Granville Station Dental. Fixed tooth replacement options restore function and prevent shifting. Discuss solutions at our Downtown Vancouver clinic in Granville Station. Call (604) 408-9200.

Bridges fill the gap created by one or more missing teeth and consist of two or more crowns (abutment teeth). Your dentist will take impressions of your mouth to custom make a bridge for seamless integration, allowing easier chewing and proper bite. The teeth on either side of the missing tooth will be prepared in the same way a crown is fitted and may be supported by either a natural tooth or a dental implant. Your dentist will give you the at-home care knowledge to ensure your bridge is effective and long-lasting.

If you want to take your smile back and think a dental bridge could help, contact us today to schedule your consultation!

Meet Dr. Ken Phillips

Dr. Ken Phillips is a general dentist at RCDG. Originally from Montreal, he graduated from Dalhousie Dental School in 1987, eventually moving west. He founded the Royal Centre practice in 1990. Now, when he’s not cycling the highways and byways of the province, or studying the latest developments in dentistry, he can be found here in downtown Vancouver working Monday-Thursday with his long time staff.

Dr. Phillips has taken a particular interest in aesthetic and laser dentistry over the years, taking advanced training courses in a variety of areas. He has been mentored by oral surgeon Dr. Ken Blankstein, and now performs most of his own surgical extractions.

Additional Information About Dental Bridges in Vancouver?

Dental bridges effectively replace missing teeth, restoring both function and appearance. Our practice provides high-quality dental bridges to help you regain a confident smile and maintain your oral health. A dental bridge could be the perfect solution if you have tooth gaps due to tooth loss.

What is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge is a fixed dental restoration that fills the gap created by one or more missing teeth. It consists of one or more artificial teeth, called pontics, anchored by dental crowns on the adjacent teeth or dental implants. Dental bridges restore your ability to chew, speak, and smile confidently, and they help maintain the shape of your face and prevent remaining teeth from shifting out of position.

How Do Dental Bridges Work?

Here’s a step-by-step overview of how dental bridges work:

  1. Consultation and Assessment: During your initial visit in Vancouver, we will evaluate your dental needs and determine if a dental bridge is the right option for you.
  2. Preparation: The teeth adjacent to the gap (abutment teeth) are prepared by removing a small amount of enamel to make room for the crowns.
  3. Impressions: We take impressions of your teeth to create a precise mold for your custom bridge.
  4. Temporary Bridge: While your permanent bridge is being made, a temporary bridge is placed to protect your teeth and gums.
  5. Placement: Once the custom bridge is ready, it is securely placed and adjusted to ensure a comfortable fit and natural appearance.

Benefits of Dental Bridges

  • Restores Functionality: Dental bridges restore your ability to chew and speak correctly, improving oral function.
  • Aesthetic Improvement: They provide a natural-looking solution that enhances your smile and confidence.
  • Prevents Teeth Shifting: By filling the gap, dental bridges prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position, leading to bite problems and other issues.
  • Durable and Long-Lasting: With proper care, dental bridges can last many years, providing a reliable and durable solution for missing teeth.

Dental Bridge vs. Implant

Patients in Vancouver often wonder about the differences between dental bridges and dental implants. While both are effective solutions for replacing missing teeth, they have distinct advantages:

  • Dental Bridge: Ideal for patients who prefer a quicker solution, dental bridges do not require surgery and are completed in a few visits.
  • Dental Implant: Dental implants involve a surgical procedure and provide a more permanent solution that mimics the natural tooth root. They can last a lifetime with proper care.

How Much is a Dental Bridge?

The cost of a dental bridge varies depending on the number of teeth being replaced, the materials used, and the case’s complexity. We offer flexible payment options and work with insurance providers to make dental bridges affordable for our patients in Vancouver. Contact us for a personalized estimate.

“My family and I have been patients of Dr. Aliakbari for over two decades, and we couldn’t be happier with the care we’ve received. I have a lot of dental anxiety, but he is always incredibly gentle, patient, and reassuring, making every visit stress-free. He takes the time to explain everything and ensures I’m comfortable throughout the appointment. The secretary is also very accommodating and makes scheduling a breeze. If you're looking for a skilled and compassionate dentist, I highly recommend Dr. Aliakbari!”

I’ve seen Dr.Alghabi for annual check normally, but recently I had filling came off so saw Dr.Hariri who was working on the weekend. “I’ve been seeing Michelle at Granville Dental for years now. Without a doubt the best CDA I’ve ever seen. Not only does she make me feel comfortable going to the dentist. But the least discomfort with any actual procedure that gets done. I would highly recommend her to everyone.”

“I have been a longtime patient here, for good reason. The staff are all super professional, friendly and helpful. The hygienists are fantastic and thorough, and the dentists are the best I have ever come across. I have never experienced any discomfort at any time with them when getting any sort of work done. I had a filling put in yesterday and I forgot about it this morning until I received a follow up email from them. Truly a great team!”
