Wisdom Teeth Removal Vancouver
Wisdom teeth can cause infection, crowding, or decay in your mouth and are not integral to the structure of your mouth.
We may suggest that you have them removed if we believe they pose a potential risk to your oral health. Removal is safe, painless, and effective.
Key Benefits:
- Simple and common procedure
- Prevent infection/decay
- Prevent crowding
Some reasons for removal include:
An impacted tooth: The tooth cannot break through the gums correctly because the jawbone is not big enough to facilitate the tooth
A partially erupted tooth: The tooth has only partially broken through the gum and cannot form a proper seal against the gums, which may result in infection
An angled tooth: The tooth erupts at an angle creating risk to surrounding teeth and possible oral pain

Meet Dr. Ken Phillips
Dr. Ken Phillips is a general dentist at RCDG. Originally from Montreal, he graduated from Dalhousie Dental School in 1987, eventually moving west. He founded the Royal Centre practice in 1990. Now, when he’s not cycling the highways and byways of the province, or studying the latest developments in dentistry, he can be found here in downtown Vancouver working Monday-Thursday with his long time staff.
Dr. Phillips has taken a particular interest in aesthetic and laser dentistry over the years, taking advanced training courses in a variety of areas. He has been mentored by oral surgeon Dr. Ken Blankstein, and now performs most of his own surgical extractions.

Additional Information About Wisdom Teeth Removal in Vancouver
Wisdom teeth removal in Vancouver is a common procedure to prevent potential dental issues caused by impacted or misaligned wisdom teeth. Our practice offers professional wisdom teeth extraction services to ensure your oral health and comfort. If you are experiencing pain, swelling, or other symptoms related to your wisdom teeth, it may be time to consider removal.
What is Wisdom Teeth Removal?
Wisdom teeth removal is a surgical procedure to extract one or more of the third molars located at the back of your mouth. These teeth, commonly known as wisdom teeth, often emerge during late adolescence or early adulthood. Due to limited space in the jaw, wisdom teeth can become impacted, leading to pain, infection, and other dental problems.
The Wisdom Teeth Removal Process
The process of wisdom teeth removal includes the following steps:
- Consultation and Examination: During your initial visit, we will conduct a thorough examination, including X-rays, to assess the position of your wisdom teeth and determine if removal is necessary.
- Preparation: We will discuss the procedure, answer any questions, and provide pre-surgery instructions to ensure you are well-prepared.
- Surgery: On the day of the procedure, we will administer local or general anesthesia to ensure your comfort. The wisdom teeth will then be carefully extracted.
- Post-Operative Care: After the surgery, we will provide you with detailed post-operative care instructions to promote healing and manage any discomfort.
